Was having my Dakota fixed at the local dealer in March. While I was there, I noticed a 2008 sitting on the lot. Didn't take long for the salesman to notice me even though I was being descrete. Long story short, after 3 hours of haggling, and yes, I thought I asked all the questions, between him and the pinstripe suit sales manager, I'm told by said manager that the carproof shows that this "daily rental" had some collision damage. I practically lost it. How could they have kept this under their hat until I had already committed to buying this vehicle! I gave my credit card for the deposit and was ready to ink the deal when he drops this bombshell. I'm pissed! According to what I read, the new laws apply to advertising as well, where the ad must indicate whether the vehicle was a daily rental. I'm considering what to do next to vent my anger at the fact that despite the new law, this dealership is still playing games. I consider myself lucky that I didn't buy this hooptie, but what about the next sap who comes along?! Thinking of notifying Chrysler first about the dealer, then maybe OMVIC about their operating outside the legal boundaries. Any suggestions?
